Dr. Keven Elder is running as a North Saanich Candidate for the School District 63 Saanich Board of Education. Dr. Elder is pleased to “acknowledge with respect that I am seeking office as a visitor on the traditional territories of the W’SANEC First Nation.”

Dr. Elder is an experienced and successful consultant in educational leadership and governance. He has 41 years of teaching and leadership experience, including 15 as a Superintendent of Schools/CEO, with 12 of those in School District 63 Saanich. He has extensive qualifications and is an expert in effective processes. Keven has a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and Master’s and Doctorate Degrees in Educational Leadership.

My Platform as a Trustee Candidate

My platform as a trustee candidate begins with a commitment to serving all children in ways that focus on every chance for every success. That commitment starts with committing all available resources to serving children with unique needs and vulnerabilities, even as we attend to opportunities for excellence.

I am also committed to engagement with First Nations and ensuring culturally responsive education for children and families of Indigenous ancestry. On the governance side, I am committed to advocating in every way we can to have government recognize financial challenges such as unfunded inflation pressures, and start providing adequate funding to school districts.

I will support engagement and voice for parents and students, and for all members of our community. Public education is crucial to our success as a society, and we all need to be involved.
